    Farmers Group Litigation - Class Action

    Improper Monthly Service Charges
    In the lawsuit about allegedly improper monthly service charges, the plaintiff alleges that Farmers charges its insureds who purchase an automobile insurance policy on a monthly basis a "service charge" in addition to the premium stated in the policy.     Physicians with Individually Negotiated HealthNet Contracts

    Deadline to Notify Healthnet is 11/15/2005
    Physician groups with more than five physicians who have “individually negotiated” Health Net contracts will not automatically benefit from key aspects of the settlement’s prospective relief unless they notify Health Net by November 25, 2005 that they want to amend their contracts to include these reforms. “Individually Negotiated Contract” means a contract pursuant to which the parties to the contract, as a result of negotiation either at the inception of the contractual relationship or at a renewal thereof, agreed to substantial modifications to the terms of Company’s standard form agreement to individually suit the needs of a particular Participating Physician, Physician Group or Physician Organization.

    Katrina victims file class action against FEMA

    Attorneys acting on behalf of over a dozen Hurricane Katrina disaster victims have filed a complaint seeking class action status against the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) [official website] and other government agencies. The lawsuit accuses FEMA of wrongfully denying the plaintiffs temporary housing and seeks declaratory and injunctive relief for the plaintiffs in the form of trailers or other housing for victims living in shelters as well as increased financial relief for families with more children than others.
