Salt Spoons |
|
|
Back when our grandmothers and great-grandmothers were setting the table for a fine meal, they placed a small container of salt at each place setting. A dinner guest had the option of scooping a tiny spoonful of salt out of the salt cellar to sprinkle on their meal. Novice collectors who now own grandma's antique place settings wonder why Grandma never had any spoons with her salt cellars. The simple answer is that if the silver spoon was left in the salt cellar, over time the salt literally dissolved the spoon. Antique salt cellar collectors we have met have been searching for a solution to the missing salt spoons, and we think we have devised a perfect solution. The result is an assortment of hand-made, sterling silver salt spoons.
